"Why use BoilerSniper over existing services like Coursicle?"
Short Answer: Major speed advantage.
Platforms like Coursicle work reasonably well for what they are, but... we're better 😎. That's a fairly sound argument in its own regard, but going into more detail: as the big platforms that they are, they have to track courses across a multitude of universities. BoilerSniper specializes in Purdue courses and, as such, can track courses and sections with incredible speed. BoilerSniper reports seat openings virtually instantaneously, whereas Coursicle experiences a major delay due to its scale. During the most competitive periods of open registration, especially at a university of over 57,000 students, you'd probably want to be as fast as possible.
For instance, this is an example of BoilerSniper finding availability for an ECE 20001 section.
And in contrast, this is Coursicle, 30 minutes later.
BoilerSniper is THAT much faster. With Coursicle, that's 30 minutes for someone else to snatch the seat. With BoilerSniper, you're the one doing the snatching... probably, unless someone's really manually checking so often that they're faster than BoilerSniper, in which case I guess they kind of deserve that seat lol. Real story: I was on vacation during winter break in Taiwan, and it was 2 AM. Four openings for a section suddenly opened out of nowhere. I would have to guess a small group of friends might've agreed to swap sections for one another. I took one of those seats, so I might've pissed someone off, but yk, gotta do what you gotta do. Regardless, BoilerSniper works.
Long Answer: Major speed advantage... and BoilerSniper is completely FREE. You're a college student (at least, I'd think you are, otherwise I have no idea why you're on this site). Do you really want to spend money on a course tracker on top of everything else? In THIS economy??
